N-power Next Level Comfirm
The meeting focused on the @npower_ng, which was inaugurated by HE, President @MBuhari in 2016 with a clear mandate to lift citizens out of poverty through capacity building, investment, and direct support.
This effort is intended to contribute to the administration’s vision of lifting 100 million people out of poverty over 10 years by creating opportunities to enhance the productivity of the Nigerian youth for employment or entrepreneurship.
This vision is ambitious yet imperative because the youth represent 70 million of the Nigerian population while youth unemployment stands at over 20% with 4.5 million entering the job market annually.
Since inception, the @npower_ng has enrolled 500,000 beneficiaries. As per the programme design, beneficiaries are to spend 24 months on the programme
They were spread across the key areas targeted by the program – N-Agro, N-Edu, N-Health, N-Tax, N-Tech in addition to the skills’ acquisition programmes.
As we expand the programs to reach more Nigerians, we have undertaken a review and re-appraisal of the programme in order to strengthen the program design and streamline for efficiency.
@FMHDSD has designed the Integrated National Social Investment Programme (I-NSIP) to reposition N-SIP to cater to vulnerable groups by providing them access to shock responsive interventions, life skills & mentorship in order to systematically lift people out of povertyS econdly, the I-NSIP’s life skills component would focus on providing skills and opportunity for vulnerable groups in key priority economic sectors which would translate to creating multidimensiona
l wealth. Thirdly, @FMHDSD is considering reducing the tenure so that more beneficiaries are enrolled, trained and exited quickly.
Lastly, @FMHDSD wishes to identify areas of inter-ministerial collaboration so that we have more options open to our beneficiaries
The intention going forward is to enroll and empower more women so they can earn an income and be more self-sufficient.
Through N-Health, I-NSIP can provide opportunities for skilled support staff as seen during the Covid-19 pandemic, which we would like to scale.
